How to Use FaceTime Without WiFi

Facetime is Apple’s original video calling application, that works well over Wi-Fi. There is no difference between using the Facetime with Wi-Fi or with cellular data (except for the cost). If you have a large amount of data in your daily data plan, you can use it without any worries.

How does Facetime work?

Facetime will always prioritize Wi-Fi connections over mobile cellular data. Since it is a video call application, it spends a lot of data. If you have an unlimited data plan, you can use your cellular data. If your data plan is capped, then you have to take care of its usage. You can get a massive bill at the end of the month if you go with data usage.

Disabling Facetime from prioritizing a Wi-Fi connection when there is one available, is really hard. When you are stuck in a no Wi-Fi zone, then you can enable cellular data to continue using Facetime. You can also disable your cellular data if it goes above your data limit.

How to enable Cellular Data?

  1. Tap on Settings on your iPhone or iPad home screen.
  2. Click on the Green cellular icon from the dropdown menu,
  3. Scroll down to the cellular data section, you can find Facetime on the list of app.
  4. Move the slider to the right to turn it on.

From that moment, you will be able to make and receive Facetime calls using your cellular data. You can follow the same steps to turn off cellular data for Facetime, whenever you need it.

Facetime without Wi-Fi

Some places may have no Wi-Fi coverage, and you’ll have to use Face time with your mobile data. Just make sure your mobile has a good network speed, if you have a strong 3G or even 4G signal, you don’t need a Wi-Fi. You don’t have to worry about the data limit if you have a good data plan.

Mobile plans with more data are usually expensive, but they are best for people who travel a lot.
